How to use coupons?

July 07, 2009  //  Posted by: admin  //  Category: large size womens clothing

We’ve all read stories about the coupon-savvy woman who can feed a family of five on $50 a month. What is her secret? She’s perfected the art of couponing. While I won’t promise that you’ll be able to do quite that well, I do guarantee that if you follow the tips below you will be able to slash dollars from your monthly grocery bill.

Know when NOT to use coupons. When is a coupon not a good deal?Knowing this can be as helpful to you as the promo code itself. In most cases, the generic version of what you’re buying is cheaper than the more expensive counterpart even WITH a coupon. You may be asking yourself, “So why even bother? Why not just purchase generics?” You will need to become coupon-savvy in order to recognize when coupons are a good deal and when they’re not. Coupons work best when they’re combined with another deal or are doubled. Carry a small calculator in your purse to help you calculate the price per unit when you’re shopping.

Combine coupons with in store-sales and two-for-ones. I recently bought two boxes of Cheerios cereal. They were on sale at the grocery store for 2 for $3. I also used two $1 off coupons I had, saving an additional $2.My cost per box: only fifty cents. Normally, without the coupon, each box is at least $3. Cool, huh? A lot of grocery stores also offer “in store” coupons. Use your own coupons in addition to these to save even more.

Find a store that will double your coupons. If your town doesn’t have one, it may be worth a short drive to another town to a store that does. If making a special trip, be sure to call in advance to see if the store has restrictions on doubling coupons. Some stores will only double coupons under $.50, some only double coupons on certain days of the week.

Buy the smallest size. Most people are under the impression that you will save more by buying in bulk. When using an online coupon or printable coupon, this usually isn’t true. What you will need to consider is the price per ounce. Here is an example of what I mean:

Without Coupon:

Diapers 28 count package: Price: $7.00 Cost per unit: $0.25

Diapers 56 count package: Price: $13.00 Cost per unit: $0.23

With Coupon:

Diapers 28 count package: Price: $7.00 – $1.50 coupon = $5.50 Cost per unit: $0.20

Diapers 56 count package: Price: $13.00 – $1.50 coupon = $11.50 Cost per unit: $0.21

While the price per ounce of the larger size is more economical without the coupon, the smaller size is the better buy with the coupon. Keep a small calculator in your purse or coupon caddy to help calculate the best deal.

Trade coupons with friends and online. Start a coupon group with women in your area. Let them know which items you need coupons for; and offer to trade with them. I have a friend who uses Pampers diapers, so whenever I see a coupon for that item I give it to her. In turn, she looks out for the items I use. To get started, e-mail 5-10 of your “thrifty” friends to see if they’re interested. Have each friend list 10-20 items that she always uses, and print out the lists. Keep the lists handy when you’re clipping coupons, and then pass on the coupons to your friends.

Other coupon sources. Some grocery stores have coupon bins within their store. Look for them near the customer service counter, or in the front of the store. Some libraries also have a coupon swapping bin. If your local library or grocer doesn’t, it doesn’t hurt to suggest it. Coupons are also now available in-store right next to the products themselves from machines sponsored by SmartSource.

Find coupons online. When you think of coupons, chances are you think of the kind that come as inserts in your Sunday paper. With the invent of the internet all sorts of other kinds of coupons are now available. You can download coupons from your computer and print them out. You can even find coupons being sold on eBay.

Organize! Make vouchers easy to file and easy to use. I used to have my coupons clumped together in an envelope in my purse. I could never find the coupons I needed, and I ended up throwing out expired coupons I could have used. I use a large plastic index-card box for my coupons now.I have it divided by categories such as: canned goods, baby products, clothes, cosmetics, foods, drinks, cereal, baking, Bed & Bath, books, magazine, dairy, etc. After serious couponing for a few months, you will discover which categories work the best for you.

After some practice, you can become a coupon king or queen in your own right.you will become a master and being mastered the art of coupon, you will never buy anything without promo codes.

Old Navy Coupons

Old Navy is a brand of clothing and chain of stores owned by Gap, Inc. Old Navy’s corporate operations are within Gap in San Francisco and San Bruno, California. It is one of the first major corporations to house headquarters in the new Mission Bay district of San Francisco. Gap, Inc., was run by President and CEO Paul Pressler from September 2002 – January 22, 2007. Robert J. Fisher served as Interim Chief Executive Officer commencing January 22, 2007. Glenn Murphy is the current CEO of Gap, Inc. The Interim President of Old Navy is Tom Wyatt, the president of the Gap, Inc. Outlet Division. Dawn Robertson, the former president, resigned on February 19, 2008, and Mr. Wyatt will be in control until a permanent replacement is found.

Old Navy History

Old Navy opened its first stores in Colma, San Leandro and Pittsburg in Northern California in 1994. These first three stores were originally constructed as Gap Warehouse stores[clarify]. The size and scale of the stores were larger and more diverse than any stores opened by the company before. Within the first year of existence, Old Navy opened 57 stores. As of 2007, Old Navy has more than 1,000 stores in the United States and Canada. The largest Old Navy stores are its flagship stores, located in New York City, the Mall of America, Seattle, Chicago, and San Francisco. The largest of these is located on Market Street in San Francisco.

An Old Navy store in Canada. In 1994, the Founder of Gap, Inc., and the CEO were visiting Paris, France and came upon a place distinctly named Old Navy and it struck a chord with them. (The Old Navy official site says, “Old Navy was named after a bar in Paris.”) A branding consultant two weeks before the trip abroad had presented them with the name ‘Elevator’. The concept name was received with mixed reviews. It has been said that the name was chosen because the stores were to imitate the look and feel of a traditional military surplus store. While this motif was quickly dropped, though some packaging is still marked “Old Navy Surplus Co.” many stores retain a warehouse-like/urban decor and the name Old Navy stuck.

The online store, oldnavy.com, launched operations in 2000. There is always a $7 shipping fee, no matter how much you purchase online at oldnavy.com

In 1999, Old Navy expanded its franchise to 6 locations in Puerto Rico. In 2001, Old Navy opened 12 stores in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. Furthermore, in 2004, 7 stores were opened in the province of Quebec (including 6 in the Montreal Area). Old Navy has since opened several stores in Ontario, and the rest of Canada.

Old Navy Concept

Old Navy’s target market largely consists of fashion oriented yet price conscious teens to adults. The clothing is more affordable than its other Gap, Inc., counterparts. Old Navy’s stores contain specialized sections for infants, boys, girls, men, and women. Most recently, Old Navy launched a re-worked line of denim for women sizes 0 to 20, mens re-worked denim will be released in fall 2008. In addition to clothing, Old Navy also sells a variety of accessories such as shoes (their flip-flops are very popular), handbags, toys, hats, and sunglasses, along with a line of clothing and toys for dogs.

For many years, Old Navy has attempted to put out a product a year that focuses on attempting to catch on, some more successful than others. The products that stand out are the Tech Vest and the Performance Fleece.

Flagship stores also have “collection” business clothes for women, plus size and maternity sections. As of summer 2007 however, plus-size clothing is only available online and has been pulled from all stores. Online sales have proceeded to flourish after being offered exclusively online. Previously, Old Navy attempted to launch a bath and body line, called ONbody (Obsessively Natural), but dropped the effort after only a few months.

Old Navy informally bills itself as an all-American brand. The chain releases a shirt every summer emblazoned with an American flag. Each year’s shirt features a slightly altered flag graphic with the year listed underneath. Alternatively, they also offer shirts with the Puerto Rican flag on them. In its Canadian stores, a similar shirt with the Canadian flag is sold.

In late September 2007, Old Navy started to offer Old Navy Visa cards, which are now, only available in the US. Unlike the regular ON credit card, these cards can be used anywhere but still bear the Old Navy logo on the front. Customers get 5% cash back on purchases at any Gap, Inc., store (Gap, Baby Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Piperlime), and 1% cash back on all other purchases. The previous “Stuff ‘n Save” promotions and the 10% off your first purchase are still included.

On 2007-10-01, Todd Oldham became Old Navy’s creative director over product.

Hot Topic (NASDAQ: HOTT) is an American chain store. It has over 690 locations across the United States and Puerto Rico, the majority of which are located in shopping malls. The first Hot Topic store was opened in 1988 by Orv Madden. The chain specializes in music and pop-culture-related fashion and merchandise including: clothing, books, comics, video games, jewelry, CDs, records, posters and other items. It also backs major concert festivals like Ozzfest and recently, Sounds Of The Underground, Taste of Chaos, and The Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. Products from Tripp NYC, Lip Service, Heartcore Clothing, Morbid Threads, Disney, Sanrio, Social Collision, and Iron Fist are also stocked.

In the past, major bands such as Korn, Good Charlotte and Avenged Sevenfold have allowed Hot Topic to release their concert wear to the general public before they themselves appear on television or at concerts wearing them. Recently Hot Topic has held in-store “listening parties” for bands such as Marilyn Manson, Avenged Sevenfold, Underoath, My Chemical Romance, Blaqk Audio, Paramore, HIM, Bullet For My Valentine, Slipknot, and Disturbed so fans could hear their new albums or singles before they were released.

As of April 2008, Hot Topic began carrying To Write Love on Her Arms shirts, which makes it the first chain to ever carry TWLOHA merchandise. Within two weeks TWLOHA shirts were one of the biggest selling shirts at Hot Topic, but due to the use of profanity and religion in the story printed on the inside of the shirts, they were ultimately pulled from the store at the end of those two weeks. The shirts that were unsold were given to Hot Topic employees. The story has been re-worked to comply with Hot Topics’s policies so they can continue to carry the shirts.

Hot Topic is known for having an extensive range of Tim Burton film products such as The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd merchandise. Hot Topic has also been a promoter of Jhonen Vasquez and his various projects, including Invader Zim, Johnny the Homicidal Maniac and “Squee”. It is one of three chain stores allowed to sell Marilyn Manson products and sells a wide variety of products.

Hot Topic, Inc. owns and operates a chain of plus-size women’s clothing stores, Torrid, which began operations in 2001. Torrid’s focus has shifted from similarly-themed clothing in women’s sizes to more clubwear and workwear for young plus-sized women, carrying brands such as BabyPhat, House of Dereon, Dickies, Z. Cavaricci and Apple Bottoms. The company’s private labels include Social Collision, Saints and Sailors, Cupcake Cult, and Morbid, formerly Morbid Threads. Hot Topic was named number 53 on Fortune 100’s Top Companies to Work For list in 2006.

Hot Topic Rebranding

Starting in 2007, Hot Topic started to change the look of their stores. They are dropping a darker look for more neutral colors. The chain planned to have 12-15 percent of their stores remodeled by the end of 2007. They are calling the new stores “downtown stores” to represent their downtown look. In June 2008 all stores received listening stations which let customers listen to specific CDs.
